About me:
Hello and thank you for visiting my website which I hope you will find informative. Alongside running Beanstalk Psychology Ltd, at home I’m a keen gardener and theatre enthusiast, and I live in mid Sussex with my husband, children and guinea pigs.
Professionally, I am a Chartered Child and Educational Psychologist. I qualified from University College London (UCL) in 2006, and over the last seventeen years have worked in three local authorities; as part of a multidisciplinary local delivery group, in pre-school settings, in primary and secondary schools, in colleges, and in special schools. I have a teaching degree from the University of Cambridge (B.Ed. Hons) and prior to training as an educational psychologist, taught in central London.
In addition to working with children, families, and schools at an individual, group, and whole schools systems level, I have experience in providing supervision for a range of professionals (including Emotional Literacy Support Assistants and Family Link Workers). I have a Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing and use a range of assessments when working with young people including dynamic assessment and solution focussed techniques. With all casework, I ensure that the assessment is as pupil centred as possible, and take care to employ a holistic approach in my work.
In 2022 I completed the CPD Doctorate in Educational Psychology (DEdPsy) at UCL, researching the junior school social experience of autistic girls. My particular areas of interest include autistic girls, supporting refugee children in schools, supporting the education of children who have been witnesses to domestic abuse, the use of group problem solving approaches with school staff, and the application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with young people, both within and out of schools.
I am registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) (Registration number: PYL02409), a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Division of Educational and Child Psychology (DECP), and the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP). I also hold an Enhanced Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS certificate number: 001851592020)
